Members' Day and Annual General Meeting,
Saturday July 2nd 2022

The Study Group's Members' Day & AGM will be held in the Main Hall at Didcot Civic Hall, Britwell Road, Didcot, OX11 7JN on Saturday July 2nd 2022 commencing at 10am. The event will be open to the public but the AGM (at 2pm) will be limited to members. (The AGM agenda is given below).

Those members who are unable to attend but want to send their apologies should send them directly to the Secretary by email email prior to Wednesday 29th June. Please ensure you include both your name & Membership Number. Please do not send your apologies to any other Committee Member (all of whom have other tasks to perform) or merely post them on the Group's IO Forum.

The venue is about a half mile from Didcot Parkway station & has a large free car park adjacent. The walk from the station is gently uphill most of the way.

The object of the day is to provide members with an opportunity to socialise, and see and hear what others have been doing, whether research, modelling, producing new parts or kits, or anything else which furthers our knowlege and understanding of the GWR. If anyone wants to bring models for display a cabinet will be available.

There are toilet and kitchen facilities and we will provide tea, coffee, milk, and biscuits. Plastic cups will be available, but you may prefer to bring your own (or to buy a GWSG mug from the sales stand). This year there will be a small prize awarded to the owner of the most appropriate, iconic, or outrageous drinking vessel. The prize will be awarded at the end of the AGM, and the Secretary's decision will be final.

The hall will be open from 8am to allow those bringing layouts, trade stands, or demonstrations to set up. The Members' Day will end at 5pm when we have to vacate the room.

Currently, the following is planned, with others to be confirmed:

Layouts:

  • Details to be advised

Sales Stands:

  • GWSG Sales Stand with our publications and back numbers of the "Pannier"
  • 'Bring & Buy' table. Bring your spare items & see what others have for sale

Further details will be posted when available. In the mean time any member with a layout to exhibit or who is prepared to have a demonstration stand is asked to contact Steve Manchip (07908 757903) or David Barker (07763 944664).
